The electric vehicle market is showing no sign of slowing, with all of the major manufacturers producing a vast swathe of new EVs. You’ll find many of the latest electric vehicles available here at My Electric Lease, too, so check them out if you’re looking to get behind the wheel of an EV today.

But what is on the horizon for electric vehicles and what kind of cars can you expect to see over the next year? Let’s take a look.

BYD Atto 2

BYD is one of the most well-known of the new wave of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers and it looks set to enter the more compact end of the EV spectrum with its Atto 2.

With a range of up to 260 miles, this smaller EV punches well above its weight in terms of outright range, however, while BYD’s smart Blade batteries will mean you’ll be able to take this car from zero to 100 per cent each time you charge without damaging any components.

MG IM 5/ IM 6

Like BYD, MG is a well-known EV brand within the UK, having changed completely from its former self. It’ll enter into the more premium end of the market with its new IM 5 and IM 6, too, which offer a range of up to 441 miles depending on specification.

A dual-motor Performance version of the IM 5 will manage 0-60mph in just over three seconds, too.

Citroen e-C5 Aircross

Utilising a platform used elsewhere in the Stellantis range, the new Citroen e-C5 Aircross will arrive as the French firm’s largest and most spacious electric vehicle. A 422-mile range is impressive for the segment, too, while inside you’ll find a large seating area with a decent amount of headroom.

As with other Citroen EVs, expect a lot of standard equipment.

Kia EV4

Kia isn’t wasting any time expanding its electric car line-up, which is why the EV4 will join the range shortly. Following hot on the heels of the EV3, the more spacious EV4 will be available in both hatchback and saloon layouts.

Expect a range of up to 388 miles from a charge, too.

Peugeot e-208 GTI

Peugeot is applying its famous GTI nameplate to an electric car for the first time and what better model to do it with than the e-208. Bringing a proper mechanical differential and a lower suspension system, the e-208 GTI aims to bring the thrill of driving offered by its petrol-powered forebears.

Inside, there is a range of GTI badges and sportier seats.

Smart #5

Smart has already established itself as a car maker of models beyond its famous two-seater ForTwo and now, the Mercedes and Geely-owned brand will expand things with the #5. It’ll act as Smart’s largest model and will bring a range of up to 366 miles.

Expect this Skoda Enyaq-rivalling model to offer plenty of technology.

Alpine A390

Alpine will also be launching a larger, more practical model with the A390. Following on from the A290 hot hatch, the A390 will have a range of up to 344 miles and the ability to rapid charge so you don’t need to wait around at the plugs for too long.

Three electric motors help to give the A390 all-wheel drive, too, which should help it to deliver a lot of traction even in poor conditions.

Porsche Cayenne Electric

A key new arrival in the EV world will be the Porsche Cayenne Electric. As a battery-powered version of the brand’s most popular SUV, the Cayenne Electric should deliver a lot of performance alongside a high-end interior.

Also, the Cayenne Electric will be one of the first production cars available with inductive charging. Simply drive over an electric ‘pad’ and the car will automatically start charging, completely wirelessly.
